​The end-of-year holidays are behind us, and the days are already getting longer!
Little by little, the Provencal landscapes will welcome touches of mauve and violet.
No doubt: lavender will soon return among us!
But where to look for these famous fields that are the pride of here?

1. The famous Valensole plateau, between the Durance Valley and the Verdon Gorges

 

Probably the most famous and closest spot to Aix-en-Provence, the Valensole plateau is one of the most famous places to observe lavender in Provence. Its vast fields stretch as far as the eye can see, offering landscapes of spectacular beauty. Whether at dawn, during the day or at sunset, the panorama is breathtaking. This site is perfect for memorable photo shoots with family, friends or lovers.

2. The gardens of the Abbey of Sénanque, near Gordes, Vaucluse

 

This active Cistercian monastery, surrounded by lavender fields, is a true Provençal postcard. A 1h15 drive from Aix-en-Provence, the Sénanque Abbey, with its medieval architecture and rows of lavender, is a must-see in the region! Every summer, visitors come to immortalize this unique setting that combines spirituality and nature.

3. The Plateau d'Albion, between Mont Ventoux, the Montagne de Lure and the Luberon

The Plateau d'Albion, located in Haute-Provence, 1.5 hours by car from Aix-en-Provence, is renowned for its landscapes combining lavender fields and golden wheat fields. This site is also home to typical stone bories, adding a picturesque touch to the whole. To extend the experience, a visit to Sault, the capital of lavender, is a must, especially to discover its distilleries and its annual market on August 15.

4. The Claparèdes Plateau, between Bonnieux and Castellet, Luberon

 

Preserved from mass tourism, the Claparèdes plateau is a hidden treasure for lavender lovers. This site, less than an hour from Aix, is dotted with oaks and bories and offers a diversity of colors and textures that will delight photographers. The serenity of the place makes it an ideal stopover to discover another face of Provence.

5. Grignan, in Drôme Provençale

The village of Grignan, famous for its castle, is surrounded by lavender fields that stretch to the horizon. In summer, this site becomes a living painting, bathed in divine light. For a breathtaking view, go to the heights of the village and enjoy a 360° panorama of the fields.

Just 1 hour 40 minutes by car, take in the sights!
